Garlic Mushroom Hummus Toasts

This Garlic Mushroom Hummus Toast is a balanced, quick and easy plant-forward snack for the whole family.


Units Scale
  • 2 tbsp. butter
  • 1 lb crimini mushrooms, sliced thick-cut
  • 1 garlic clove, grated
  • Salt & freshly cracked black pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp. fresh parsley, chopped + more for topping
  • 812 tbsp. hummus (homemade or store-bought)
  • 4 slices whole grain bread, toasted


  1. Over medium-high heat, add 2 tbsp. butter to a large skillet. Once melted, add mushrooms, salt & black pepper, and cook until mushrooms brown and water evaporates, about 15 minutes. Add garlic and continue to cook, about 1 minute, stirring consistently to prevent burning. Transfer to a bowl, stir in chopped parsley and set aside.
  2. Spread 2-3 tbsp. of your favorite hummus overtop 1 slice of whole grain toast.
  3. Divide mushroom mixture into 4. Top toast with ¼ of the mushroom mixture. Garnish with extra parsley
  4. Repeat steps 2–3 for the remaining mushroom mixture. Enjoy!
